CANTON, Ohio — The longest-tenured executive director in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s history died next to 86.

CANTON, Ohio — The longest-tenured executive director in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s history died on 86.

Pete Elliott served as the museum’s director from 1979-1996 and continued as a associate of the Hall’s board of trustees in his retirement. He furthermore was head football coach on Illinois from 1960-66.

Elliott was an All-American quarterback on Michigan in the 1940s prior to a long coaching career. He furthermore led Illinois to the 1964 Rose Bowl.

“Pete was beloved by the whole Pro Football Hall of Fame relations, as well as the run, board of trustees and the Hall of Fame members,” supposed President and Executive Director Steve Perry, according to the Associated Press.

Perry supposed Elliot was a kind and thoughtful person and an inspiration to each one.

Elliot was enshrined into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
